LOCAL REHABILITATION WORKSHOP (LOREWO)


LOREWO Zimbabwe is a local rehabilitation workshop in Bulawayo, employing people with disabilities. LOREWO manufactures, assembles, modify and repair wheelchairs and other assistive devices (AT) to meet the needs of people with mobility difficulties. LOREWO was established in 1999 and has served to increase opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in all aspects of community life through employment, training and provision of wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
Activities
1. Manufacturing of devices
LOREWO manufactures wheelchairs and many other assistive devices such as crutches, walking frames, commodes etc. We also do home adjustments for easy accessibility for people living with disabilities.
2. Seating services
LOREWO staff has been trained in basic and intermediate wheelchair seating and this has equipped the organisation to be able to offer efficient services in seating and help in proper position to people especially with mobility disabilities. LOREWO provides training and assist wheelchair users on how to use and take care of their devices. We offer services to both adults and children.
3. Repairs
LOREWO has a fully functional workshop where all the repairs and manufacturing is done by our wheelchair technicians. Our services are now well known and appreciated in Bulawayo and surrounding areas.

LOREWO collaborates with various regional organisations who are wheelchair seating specialist in order to increase its knowledge and strengthen its service delivery. The main collaborating partner include CLASP, Shonaquip, Motivation and CE Mobility.
